Snowdonia - Car parking charges. by
Michael Chare
I see the Welsh now want £4.00 for a day's parking in the Nant Peris Car
Park, LLanberis. IIRC parking there was free in the past.
The car park was almost full the day I found this out. It was also difficult
to find a roadside parking place this August. Maybe I was trying to late in
the...

Wasdale Head dropped from National beer guide by
Fellwalker[_3_]
Wasdale Head Inn, Cumbria
I know the reasons, long term manager retired for personal reasons, owner
made poor appointment, micro brewery departs, beer not paid for etc
Anybody been in during the last few months, are things looking up or down?

Exercise for walking by
Chris Gilbert[_4_]
Any ideas or suggestions welcome.
I've always found a stepper machine by far the best
non-walking exercise most suited to improving fitness
for walking.

TR: Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill by
Mark in Sutherland
Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill is an interesting but remote
hill in the far north-west. It's not easy to get to, and not even easy
to find out about, because it's spread over three OS maps (9, 15 and 16)
with no overlap, so it's hard to see the shape of it; in the end I gave
up and got an OS...

Rila Mountains, Bulgaria by
John Dawson[_3_]
I've recently returned from a trip to Bulgaria which included some hiking
in the Rila Mountains. Highlights were the seven Rila Lakes (day 2) and
the ascent of Mount Musala (day 4), at 2925 metres the highest mountain in
the Balkans. Photos at:

Suggestions for Walking Base in UK by
Phil Richards
Hello
Looking for suggestions for a base for about a week to do day walks.
Back in April we self catered in Settle and were spoilt for choice for
day walks either from the town or a short bus/train ride. Not massively
long walks, for example we did each of the Three Peaks on separate...

Heads-up: Worthwhile Tent Sale by
David Skinner[_2_]
Folks,
Field and Trek may not be the poshest place to shop, but they've got a
decent sale on tents at the moment (amongst other things).
PLUS - until midnight on Sunday, there's an extra 20% off everything.
I've just picked-up a Terra Nova Laser Comp for £160. (Most places list
it at £280).

Walking t-shirts: buying (views, reviews, comments etc) by
Allan[_3_]
Are walking t-shirts really that unfashionable?
I've worn out two now (sadly consigned to that collection of favourite
trusted gear that is no longer usable but you don't want to throw out,
with long history and happy stories attached).
I've had a quick go through two magazines (tgo & Trail) and...

Coincidently! by
amacmil304@aol.com
Coincidently, in today's newspapers there are proposals to charge
motorists a mileage charge to use roads and to charge walkers £1 each
to walk up Ben Nevis.
So if motorists have to pay to use all roads as suggested, why should
walkers not pay for all footpaths and land they use?
The same...
