This was the prettiest of all the events I've entered, I think. Well worth

Race Report, Iron Girl 10-mile race by
Michelle
So today I ran in the Iron Girl 10-mile race in Tempe, Arizona. *This was
my first ten mile race ever.
My friend Mary, who was going to walk the 5K race that was being held at
the same time, came to my house the day before, and we went to the expo to
get out bibs, chips, and goody bags. *Just...

The role of racing in a developing athlete by

Edward - thanks for your detailed responses - you're certainly living
a schedule that many people would envy.
Here's another "+1" for some occasional racing even in your
"build up and development" phase. There's no training run that can
equal the effect of a race. The feedback is...

Nice race and write-up Ed.
You finished well ahead of your expected time.
To what do you credit that?
And did you end up finishing ahead of Bill?

Did a 10k on Saturday! Unusually nice weather, for this time of year.
My usual 48 1/2 time, which is not killing myself.

A growing distaste for minimalist and barefoot runners by
D Stumpus[_4_]
Count me out on the barefoot trend. I run on trails where people walk dogs
and ride horses. Enough said.
I enjoy running in lightweight flats, they're the most fun. I run about 4
sec/mile faster for each ounce eliminated per shoe.
Take this test: Would you rather run your workouts 15-30...

34th annual Phoenix 10K and 5K by
Michelle
No, I didn't run it; I was a "caller". For some reason, neither the
organization that times the race nor the organization that runs it have
clocks to put at the mile markers, so they have volunteers calling out the
times.
I called the 3 mile and 6 mile points of the 10K and the 3 mile point of...
