Default best hillwalking camera?

Well I'm not sure about that. I think most people looking for videos would
search on YouTube. Then again, there's nothing stopping you posting a video
to multiple sites, is there?

That's true, but because of the high number of videos there it is still
hard to reach the top of their listings. There are services that will
automatically post your videos to multiple websites so you only have to
upload once.

Like photos though I don't like losing control of my videos, especially
given YouTubes rather dodgy copyright policy. You are effectively
handing over your work on a silver platter to them. Even if you delete
the video YouTube will keep the file on their server and reserve the
right to use it in promotions etc.

Along with Exposure room Vimeo is a very widely used service for people
who want more control.

Oh yes, obviously. My point was simply that there's no point buying the best
camera in the world if you find that it's too heavy/bulky to take out with
you.

Very true.

I've done a number of walks recently carrying only my Canon G9. Not as good
quality as my DSLR gear, but far more practical for a simple walk (as
opposed to a serious photo shoot).

At the moment I'm trying to figure out how to protect my EX3 from tidal
bores! I'm not impressed at the cost of some of the watertight flexible
casings. £600 for what amounts to a thick freezer bag with a clear
filter on the front!
